What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment that involves applying a chemical solution to the face for the purpose of exfoliation. This reveals smoother, softer, and more even skin while often stimulating new collagen production for a more youthful look. Chemical peels are available in a range of formulas, ranging from light chemical peels to medium chemical peels to deep chemical peels. This means that a wider range of patients can benefit from chemical peels and treat issues from mild dullness to deep facial lines. The types of chemical peels will depend on the skin conditions you’re struggling with and the results you’re looking for.
Types of Chemical Peels
THE PERFECT DERMA™ PEEL
1oz/5ml, Suitable For All Skin Types – Fitzpatrick I – VI
THE PERFECT DERMA™ PEEL is a medical grade, medium-depth chemical peel that is safe and effective for All Skin Types & Ethnicities. The Perfect Derma Peel’s exclusive formulation provides superior results for aging skin, acne, hyperpigmentation, melasma and other common skin concerns.
The application process is virtually painless and takes approximately 15 minutes. There is little downtime, with visible peeling that normally lasts two to four days. See healthier, younger looking skin results in about one week!
THE PERFECT DERMA™ PEEL is the ONLY medical grade peel on the market that contains the master antioxidant Glutathione. Glutathione is a well-documented anti-aging antioxidant produced by the human body. However, production diminishes with age and exposure to environmental stress. Glutathione penetrates deep into the cellular level of the skin to help reduce free radical damage, brighten the skin and slow down the aging process.
Regular peels help prevent fine lines and wrinkles, enhance overall skin health and inhibit melanin production.

How it Works
Lipophilic
Its biostimulating and revitalizing actions ensure fibroblasts’ activity, activate cutaneous proliferating and biosynthetic processes, as well as increase cellular turnover and collagen and elastin production. In addition, hydrophilic phase promotes exfoliation, reduces fine lines by neutralization of free radicals, and helps battling acne, enlarged pores and comedones.
Hydrophilic
Has stabilizing and protective actions, reduces trans-epidermic water evaporation and assists active principles’ vehiculation. Also, restores and maintains the cutaneous hydro-lipidic film. Its moisturizing action increases overall hydration.

Benefits of Different Types of Chemical Peels
Chemical peels have a range of benefits and can be tailored to suit many patients’ concerns. Depending on whether you have a superficial peel/light peel, medium peel, or deep peel, some of the skin concerns that a chemical peel treats include:
- Fine lines & wrinkles
- Rough skin/uneven skin texture
- Uneven skin tone
- Acne scars/deep scars
The Chemical Peel Procedure
The chemical peel process begins by first thoroughly cleansing your skin. For deeper peels, a topical numbing solution may be applied to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. The chemical solution can then be applied using tools such as brushes or sponges. The peel will then be carefully timed. The chemical peel solution can include a variety of ingredients, including salicylic acid, lactic acid, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), and glycolic acid. During this time, you may feel sensations from warming to mild stinging, depending on the type of peel you receive. Fans can be used to cool the skin as needed. When the peel is complete, a neutralizing solution is applied, and the products are removed.
What to Expect After a Chemical Peel
Your expectations after a chemical peel will vary depending on the type of peel you receive. After a superficial chemical peel, you can expect the skin to temporarily appear darker or lighter as you heal. You will want to avoid excess sun exposure during this time. The outer layer of skin will gently exfoliate within about four to seven days to reveal your brighter and smoother skin.
