While creating a cleaner and more defined look, brow lamination also gives the appearance of thicker or fuller brows by lifting hairs in a more vertical direction. Those who are interested in less permanent changes or a less invasive procedure may opt for brow lamination over services such as microblading.
The Brow Lamination Procedure
Brow lamination is a chemical process that works similarly to a perm. Your provider will first discuss your goal results with you and make recommendations for what will be most flattering. To begin the procedure, the brows will be brushed into the desired shape. Next, a lifting cream is painted onto the brows and allowed time to process before applying a neutralizer solution. After adequate time has passed to allow the brows to set in their new shape, a nourishing oil is applied to the brows to restore moisture. As needed, your provider may then tweeze the brows to complement the new look. Some may choose to pair brow lamination with waxing, which can be performed after the lamination process to enhance a clean and defined look.
What to Expect After Brow Lamination
Brow lamination aftercare is relatively simple. It is important to avoid getting the brows wet for at least 24 hours after your appointment. This includes washing the area or sweating, so it is best to avoid exercise if possible. Getting the brow area wet can deactivate the chemicals used in the brow lamination process. It is also best to avoid rubbing or touching the area for the first 24 hours.
Your provider can offer advice regarding your skincare regimen or makeup to care for your laminated brows. As a general rule, it is best to avoid exfoliating, anti-aging, or tanning products for at least three days. Most people do not find makeup necessary after brow lamination, though it can be helpful to gently brush the brows using a spoolie.
How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?
Your brows will naturally complete their growth cycle and shed over time, meaning that brow lamination results are not permanent. Most people will see results that last for about 6-8 weeks. You can schedule routine brow lamination treatments to keep up your results long-term. It can be helpful to use a clear brow gel with a firm hold as you get closer to your touch-up appointments.
