Stretch Mark Camouflage
Stretch mark camouflage at Nouveau Health and Wellness! Microneedling and laser treatments are effective treatments that can improve the appearance of stretch marks, but they are not always effective for improving the discoloration of stretch marks. Stretch mark camouflage uses semi-permanent pigmentation to hide noticeable stretch marks and scars, helping you achieve beautifully smooth skin that you can feel confident about!
Book NowWhat is Stretch Mark Camouflage?
Stretch marks often appear as white or pale lines on the skin’s outer layer. They often develop as the skin stretches from natural aging or weight gain. Stretch mark camouflage or scar camouflage is a new way to treat stretch marks and scars and is effective for most skin types.
Stretch mark camouflage uses tattoo needling, similar to microblading, to match your stretch marks to your skin tone, camouflaging their appearance. This form of tattooing is called micropigmentation and the pigments selected will be carefully mixed and layered on the skin to match the surrounding skin tone.
What to Expect During the Procedure
Before your procedure, your stretch marks or scars need to be “healed” to ensure the best results. New stretch marks or scars that are still red cannot be treated with stretch mark camouflage.
First, your provider will mix the pigments to create a customized color that perfectly matches your natural skin tone. Next, a small needle will deposit the pigment into the skin. Patients have compared the stretch mark camouflage tattoo to microblading so you may feel a scratching sensation as the needle is applied to your skin. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the stretch mark camouflage procedure can take 1-3 hours.
What to Expect After the Procedure
After one session, you can see a 30-60% improvement but for the best results, 2-4 treatments are recommended. After each session, you may feel slightly sore and notice some redness and swelling but this will resolve in 1-2 weeks. After this time, the skin will appear dark and scabby, but it is important you do not pick at the scabs since this can interfere with the healing process.
Although your newly healed skin will appear darker at first, your true results will gradually develop as the skin heals. To avoid over-pigmenting the skin, we may proceed cautiously with the first treatment, which is why a second or third treatment session is often needed.
How Long Does Stretch Mark Camouflage Last?
Stretch mark camouflage usually lasts anywhere from 3-7 years after your final treatment. How quickly the pigmentation fades can vary depending on your immune system, sun exposure, and aftercare. Make sure to follow your provider’s advice so that you can enjoy your beautiful results for as long as possible.
