What is a Lymph Drainage Facial?
The lymphatic system is a part of the immune system which includes hundreds of lymph nodes throughout the body which drain the lymph fluid to the bloodstream to remove waste. In some cases, obstructions in the lymphatic system will cause fluid build-up. A lymph drainage massage or facial helps to clear these blockages. A lymph drainage facial combines gentle lymphatic massage with other facial steps to create a healthy and refreshed complexion.

Benefits of a Lymph Drainage Facial
Lymph drainage facials have many benefits. Overall, the procedure is beneficial in creating a more luminous appearance and reducing puffiness in the face, with some patients even finding that the treatment creates a more lifted or youthful look. Some common benefits of a lymph drainage facial include:
- Clearing toxins
- Promoting healthy circulation
- Improving skin’s texture
- Reducing inflammation or puffiness
- Reducing irritation
- Preventing signs of aging
Candidates for a Lymph Drainage Facial
Most people are good candidates for a lymph drainage facial, however, the treatment may not be recommended for those with certain health conditions. If you have concerns such as a high risk of blood clots, congestive heart failure or other heart conditions, an active lymphatic infection, or swelling without a known cause, you should discuss these issues with your expert provider. They may recommend that you see a doctor or other healthcare professional before choosing to undergo a lymph drainage facial.
The Lymph Drainage Facial Procedure
Prior to your lymph drainage facial, the skin will be thoroughly cleansed. Most providers prefer to complete the lymphatic massage as a dry massage, meaning it will be completed before any moisturizers, serums, or oils are applied to the skin. Your expert provider will use the lymph drainage cup attachment on the HydraFacial system to encourage lymph movement beginning at the lower points of the face. The skin will be gently stretched in an upward and outward direction to promote drainage. Your provider may also instruct you to complete deep breathing exercises throughout the procedure, as this can promote improved lymphatic massage through the facial.
Following your lymph drainage massage, your provider may complete your facial by applying skincare products according to your unique needs. This can be discussed prior to your facial. The process should take no more than about an hour to complete.
What to Expect After a Lymph Drainage Facial
After your lymph drainage facial, you should see some immediate results. These will continue to improve in the following days, with reduced puffiness and improved radiance being the most common results.
