Lash Perm

Curling your lashes is the secret to achieving a wide-eyed look and creating the optical illusion of longer lashes. However, using eyelash curlers daily can be irritating or create sub-par results. Just as you can perm your hair to create curls that last for months, lash perms are now available so you can enjoy curled lashes from the moment you wake up. The aestheticians at Nouveau Health & Wellness offer safe lash perms with excellent results in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

What is an Eyelash Perm?

An eyelash perm is a chemical process intended to create a long-term curl in the lashes. The process works similarly to a perm for the hair. During a lash perm, a chemical perming solution is applied to the lashes to create the desired shape. In addition, the lashes will appear longer and fuller as a result of the new shape.

The Lash Perm Procedure

You should arrive to your lash perm appointment with clean lashes and no eye makeup, including mascara. During a lash perm, the lashes are first coated in an adhesive and wrapped around self-adhesive rods. These rods can be adjusted or selected for your unique eye shape or goal results to create the desired effect. A perming solution is then applied to the eyelashes using a small brush. With the eyelashes sufficiently covered in the perming solution, your aesthetician will then place plastic wrap over the lashes to allow the solution to process for about five minutes. A neutralizing solution is then placed on the lashes before again placing a plastic wrap for an additional five minutes or so. Throughout the procedure, your technician may brush and shape the lashes periodically to ensure the intended results. When this process is complete, the rollers or clips can be removed to reveal the curled lashes. A lash perm can be completed in about 45 minutes total.

What to Expect After a Lash Perm

After your lash perm, you should avoid getting the lashes wet for 24 hours. This includes applying mascara or sweating, so it is best to wait to exercise. Your results should be visible immediately, but getting the lashes wet would deactivate the perming solution. Your provider can offer advice regarding makeup, skincare, and other considerations that will best maintain your lash perm results.

How Long Does a Lash Perm Last?

Lash perms typically last about 6-8 weeks on average, with some seeing results that last as long as three months. This is because new lashes will continue to grow as the permed lashes naturally shed. You can receive routine touch-up treatments to keep up your lash perm results if you choose. During a consultation, your lash perm provider can help you determine the best treatment plan for you.
