What is the Fotona 4D Facelift?
Using Fotona’s innovative SP Dynamis Pro laser, the 4D facelift combines two distinct laser wavelengths with four unique “modes” to achieve comprehensive results not seen with traditional laser resurfacing treatments.
The 4D facelift occurs in four waves, or methods of laser rejuvenation:
- SmoothLiftin – Unlike other facial resurfacing treatments, Fotona 4D treats both the interior and exterior of the area around the mouth. With SmoothLiftin, laser energy is aimed inside the mouth to tighten the jawline, cheeks, and lips. This helps begin the process of reducing fine lines but more specifically reduces nasolabial folds and wrinkles.
- FRAC3 – Now focused on the facial skin, FRAC3 specifically targets deep imperfections like folds and pigmentation throughout the face, including the chin, cheeks, and forehead.
- PIANO – The PIANO setting on the Nd:YAG is fine-tuned to provide large-area treatments with the intensity needed to rapidly tighten skin combined with a technique designed to protect the epidermis.
- SupErficial – Finally, a more superficial approach that can be considered a light laser peel is performed across the face to smooth out and correct surface-level imperfections like pore size and very fine lines for an immediately satisfying result.
The Fotona 4D Facelift Procedure
The 4D facelift begins with a consultation to make sure your skin concerns are best handled by this specific laser technology. On the day of the treatment itself, you’ll be taken to a private room where you may or may not receive a topical anesthetic to help the procedure be as comfortable as possible; not all patients request this, as the Fotona laser system is usually well-tolerated. Patients usually describe the procedure as a warming sensation in the treated area. Some parts of the procedure can involve more hot sensations, but they are done with a technique that ensures nothing hurts or adversely affects your skin.
Fotona 4D takes between 30-45 minutes and allows you to go back to your daily routine immediately if you have no side effects or concerns. The comprehensive nature of the treatment means you can see immediate results, but the full effect of it will gradually appear during the following few months after treatment.
Following your 4D facelift, there’s not necessarily any downtime required, but we do recommend taking care to avoid excess sun exposure as your skin may be sensitive. You may be pink like a sunburn for 24-48 hours after the procedure, and lightly peel for 2-3 days following. In most cases, you may wear makeup 24 hours after the 4D facelift.
Good Candidates for Fotona 4D Facelift
The best candidates for the 4D facelift are people who are still not ready for a surgical facelift procedure but who want to see long-lasting, highly natural-looking results with minimal downtime. The concerns that might bring someone in for this comprehensive laser treatment include:
- Overall facial skin laxity
- Mild to moderate pigmentation
- Deep folds in the mid-face
- Mild to moderate volume loss
- Poor skin texture
